Most of us have a desk, whether at home or in an office, and in my experience it can easily become a dumping ground for crap.
Your challenge today is to clean out one drawer of your desk.
Here’s how I do it:
- Set a timer for no more than 15 min. If you’re nervous about doing this in the office, make it your break time.
- Get a garbage can nearby and be ruthless.
- Take everything out and throw away as you go.
- Using cleaner (or at least a rag) wipe down the inside of the drawer once it’s empty.
- Pile up items that belong elsewhere, intentionally replace items that belong in the drawer and return anything that was borrowed from someone else.
Enjoy your new drawer! Repeat daily until your desk is clean and things are tidy again. (See bonus tips below)

As a reminder, we often throw things into a drawer as a way of avoidance. If it’s in the drawer I don’t have to think about it. Be prepared to face some stuff you didn’t do, ignored or overlooked. Use this as an opportunity to clean up the physical crap and anything energetically hanging over your head.
| TIP! Add ‘clean desk drawers’ to your calendar every 3-4 months. |
