Sometimes a little step task isn’t all that complicated but still needs to be done.
If you grew up thinking that “Spring Cleaning” is a once a year bonanza and the rest of the year cleaning is optional, adding this task to your monthly cleaning list might be a good idea.
Simply put: take all your welcome mats (outdoor ones) and hose them down. If they’re grimy you can squirt on some soap and scrub a bit, but they’ll mostly benefit from a good rinse.
It’s simple: welcome mats are there to look cute and stop dirt from getting off our shoes and into the house. So, if the welcome mat keeps the house clean, it is dirty by default.

Just like the post on washing your trash cans, it can be counterintuitive to wash a thing meant to collect dirt. But to me that’s why they need to be done even more!
