Along with weather tracking, one of my old lady hobbies is quilting. I collect lots of fabric, cut them into small squares and create hexagons for English Paper Pieced quilts.

Since I started in 2019, I have been collecting projects I want to do and started tracking them in my journal. In addition to quilts, I make pillows and table runners and occasionally a Christmas tree skirt.

In my journal I track the projects I want to prioritize along with details such as sizing or number of hexagons I need.

Here’s how the 2026 pages look:

One of my December projects is to pull out the table runner and pillow fabrics and make some decisions about which ones I want to prioritize.

I’ve also made room in the journal for documenting how many hexagons I have (because there are so many) which is supposed to remind me that I don’t need more fabric but that doesn’t really happen. Here’s how the 2025 hexie count page looked:

I’ll do a quick count at the end of the year to see how many I’ve added vs used because my entire goal is to Leave Quilts, Not Fabric. Clearly, I have enough hexagons to make a LOT of quilts since my average quilt is 1,000-4,000 pieces.
