As I get old(er), I find weather more interesting, especially living in tornado county! I also refer to my annual weather data when I’m working in the garden or planning the end of season clean up in the Fall. Another benefit is looking back on how many snow days we had over winter, the last time it rained, how many amazing thunderstorms came through town.

In Summer 2024 the weather was hot and dry, this past summer had many more rainstorms and thunderstorms.

Each morning I’ll check my weather app and document the high/low and weather type in my iPhone Notes app. Every week or so I transfer that information into the weather and temp pages in my journal.

Here’s what my 2026 set up looks like:

The best thing about tracking the weather is that if I forget, I can easily find that data in my weather app or online.

There’s also a page dedicated to Weather Notes where I jot things down like how much rain received, if there was a bad smog day, or other meaningful weather events. Again, this is just for my own information, like a personal almanac.
